Ditch the Devices and Reconnect in Glenwood Springs, Colorado

We’ve all had our fair share of being on electronics over the past 20 months with working from home, watching the latest series on Netflix, checking social media on our smartphones, and reading books on a Kindle. Now that we can gather again, it’s time to ditch the devices and reconnect in Glenwood Springs, Colorado for an authentic, real experience.

This holiday season will be even more special with many family and friend gatherings cancelled last November and December due to the unknowns, all courtesy of COVID-19. It’s a great time to book a Glenwood Hot Springs Resort getaway and to celebrate the holidays or get away from all the glitter and glitz and simply recharge.

Treat Yourself

If the relaxation part of the equation is more your idea of the perfect gift to yourself and loved ones this holiday season, soak in blissfully warm mineral hot springs and stay overnight in the Lodge at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. Book the Wellness Package for 10% off the best available rate, which includes unlimited access to the hot springs and breakfast at the poolside Grill, and receive one Athletic Club pass per registered adult. Athletic Club amenities include a wet lounge with steam room, sauna and whirlpool; cardio exercise equipment and weights; and a sundeck and private entrance to the Glenwood Hot Springs Pool.  This package is ideal for adults ages 18 years or older.

Or if you want to get away sooner rather than later and have flexibility to travel on weekdays, the resort’s Buy Now package provides 20% off the best available rate at the Lodge and includes unlimited access to Glenwood Hot Springs Pool and breakfast at the poolside Grill. Buy Now is available Sunday through Thursday, Sept. 15 – Dec. 15, 2021 (except Nov. 24 – 27 over the Thanksgiving holiday) and subject to availability.

Savor the Holidays

We can all agree that it is easier to ditch the devices and reconnect when there is something fun to do, and there is plenty of that going on in Glenwood Springs. In addition to all the great shops, restaurants and nightlife, there is a full calendar of holiday happenings.

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is hosting Winter on the Mountain and adorning its mountaintop playground with thousands of lights, a giant musical Christmas tree, holiday music and visits from Santa. The festivities kick off on Nov. 20 and continue through January 2022.

Hotel Colorado, located across from Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, pulls out all the stops for the holidays with elegant Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals and memorable Breakfasts with Santa. The big hurrah is the Hotel Colorado Lighting Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 26., a local holiday event for more than three decades. Hotel Colorado, built by the founder of Glenwood Hot Springs Pool, has always been lavish with its holiday décor but the lighting ceremony makes it a magical spectacle. People begin gathering on Sixth Street that runs in front of the hotel and Glenwood Hot Springs Resort at 3 p.m. for live music and activities before a countdown with Santa for the tree lighting and fireworks at 7:15 p.m. There are all sorts of happenings inside the hotel and within the courtyard as well, including ice carving, a gingerbread house display, visits with Santa and more.

Take an easy stroll over the pedestrian bridge from Glenwood Hot Springs Resort to the bustling downtown district and Glenwood Vaudeville Revue, which is hosting a free viewing of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” on Nov. 30 and launches its popular Holiday Show season beginning on Nov. 19. Expect two hours of a family-friendly dinner theater show with professional talent performing a variety of comedy skits, high energy dance numbers, unique novelty songs and more. The menu is filled with favorite items from several Glenwood Springs restaurants.

Gather for additional holiday cheer at the town’s Grand Holiday festivities on the evening of Dec. 10, when Santa and his team of reindeer take a break from their holiday preparations to stop by for a visit in front of the Garfield County Courthouse. Fire pits, hot cocoa and carolers round out the occasion.

Breathe in the Outdoors

While in the mountains, get outdoors and enjoy Glenwood Springs’ and the Roaring Fork Valley’s incredible array of trails for walking and biking and beautiful rivers for fishing. Simply bring layers, plenty of water and snacks, and perhaps a warm beverage for the outing.

If fluffy white flakes are on your mind, do your best snow dance, watch the weather forecast and get out for some snowshoeing, Nordic skiing and downhill skiing and snowboarding. Sunlight Mountain Resort’s opening day is planned for Dec. 10 depending on snow conditions. While taking some turns or traversing through a white-covered forest, you won’t even think about being on your devices other than taking photos!

The best way to kick off or wrap up a day of mountain exploring is at Glenwood Hot Springs Pool. Ditch your devices and reconnect in Glenwood Springs while soaking while the sun sets and the stars twinkle and reminiscing about the one Mother Nature of a good time you’ve embraced.
