For 41 years, my mom & I would go up to Glenwood Springs for a weekend, a week, or even a month. My mom is from Poland, and Glenwood Springs was one of the 1st cities she visited when her family moved to the USA. The drive up is a very bonding moment between my mom and me. The drive home is wonderful also, as we talk about our time in Glenwood Springs. Our last trip together was 2002, when the coal steam fire threatened our favorite city in Colorado. Along with the fire, my grandmother was dying in the hospital; we will never forget 2002. In 2007, I drove up for the 1st time by myself. I had my moms remains with me. She had committed suicide on 3/10/07 and I spread her ashes in our favorite places in Glenwood Springs. I plan to visit this summer & bring my daughter with me. A new mother/daughter tradition starts.
