Glenwood Springs: Another Day in Paradise

I will never forget my first day at Glenwood! In 1995 I was coaching Basketball at Skyview High School and we were on the way to Alta Utah for a tournament. One of our coaches shared what about we stop at Glenwood? It was life changing! From that point on it became a tradition and love.

In 1997 I met the love of my life Stephanie. We were teachers at John Dewey Middle School in Adams County Colorado. I immediately introduced her to Glenwood and she fell in love with it too. Our first trip we took a great hike to the top of hanging lake and soaked afterwards in the pool for hours. Mission Accomplished! This began the Auday Tradition of staying 2-3 nights in the summer and another in the fall/winter. Originally, we stayed in town and a small hotel or other lodging until we smartened up and started staying right on Campus at the Resort.

We take two trips twice a year for three days and stay at your resort. From the awesome breakfast build your own omelet to working out at the Spa of the Rockies it can't be beat. I am pretty sure we have stayed at the lodge for 16 or so consecutive years. At at trip in 2005 on the way up to our room Stephanie pointed out a balcony and said, "do you remember staying in that room?" Having been there so many times I was a bit perplexed by this memory.

She quickly followed up and told me that is where Grant came from, my three year old son . She said she did the math and this was his origin place. So not only is my favorite spot the resort but she feels that trip is when he was conceived. Maybe we should have named him Glenwood? Dear Glenwood, Thanks for the great memories and times to come. I know this will be generational as my 22 year old daughter and 19 year old son will continue the tradition. They have joined us most of our trips. We eat at the same places over the bridge, have a drink at Doc Holidays, hike endlessly and love the town! Writing this makes me yearn for a visit right now.

When we are there we do the Auday Chant,"ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE!"
