Connection to Granny & Grampa

I started going to Glenwood when I was about 6 years old. We would ride the train from Denver and stay at the Hotel Colorado for the weekend.

We made it a yearly trip. I would eat spaghetti on the train, make sure to go to the viewing car to see the mooning rafters on the CO river, then be the first one off the train to run and smell the pool smells. We stayed at the pool ALL DAY.

My cousin and I would choreograph elaborate synchronized swimming routines while my brother tried to dunk us every chance he got. My grandparents packed snacks, made sure we had dry towels, and always reminded us to make sure our pool stamp still glowed under the light on the way out. My husband and I came back a few years ago for his birthday and all the memories came rushing back.

It made me miss my grandparents like crazy and convinced me that I HAD to make a tradition of Glenwood for our daughter. We haven't taken the train yet, but are planning to this summer. Hopefully they still serve spaghetti.
